It’s crazy, the feeling you get when you know you made the right choice.
Last semester, I visited an important newsroom in Florida, the Orlando Sentinel.
I got goosebumps as soon as I walked in. The typing, soothing to the ear; the writers, and how happy they shared to be; and the humbling aura of a building filled with stories.
It felt like home.
I am not a person who tends to share her goals because 1. I don’t think it should be set in stone and that’s how it can feel when shared, and 2. I like to keep it lowkey (aside from the lucky few).
I don’t know if I’ll end up in a newsroom writing life stories, features or whatever it may be. Nor do I know if I’ll end up writing blogposts for companies or working for someone like Insider , heck I may even end up working for myself. Who knows?
What I do know is that I am excited for the future, more than I have ever been.
I’m sure you’ll see my byline published by one of your favs sooner than you know.
This is coming from someone who switched their major twice and was always “sure” she knew what she wanted to do. So, if you haven’t figured out your major, take it one day at it time and you’ll see everything will be alright. Thankfully I had people around me who always pushed me to do what I want, even if it’s scary.
I truly couldn’t be happier with my choice in major.
